Whirlpool Dishwasher Not Draining
If your dishwasher isn’t draining properly, here’s how to fix it.
1. Check the Drain Line
Check the drain line to see if any debris is clogged in it. This could prevent the water from draining completely. If you notice any blockage, try using a plunger to clear it.
1) Clean the Valve
To clean the valve, turn off the power supply to the dishwasher, remove the access panel, and disconnect the hose. Remove the rubber gasket around the valve stem. Turn the valve handle clockwise until the water drains out. Replace the gasket and reconnect the hose.
2 Clean the Filter
Clean the filter screen. To do this, open the door of the dishwasher and remove the filter screen. Rinse the filter screen under running tap water. Be sure to rinse the screen thoroughly; otherwise, dirt and grime may remain stuck to the screen.
2) Pour in some warm water
Pour about 2 cups of warm water into the bottom of the washer tub. This will help loosen any dried-on food from the sides of the tub.
3 Add detergent
Add a small amount of liquid dishwashing detergent to the wash water. Do not use fabric softener sheets or dryer sheets. Fabric softeners leave residue behind and dryer sheets can damage the heating element.
3) Change the Drain hose and valve
If you notice a leak in the drain line, check the drain hose and valve. Make sure the rubber gasket around the drain pipe is properly seated against the drain hole in the bottom of the tub. Check the drain hose and valve for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary.
4 Fill the tub with hot water
Fill the tub with hot water until the water level reaches the top of the tub. Hot water helps loosen stubborn stains.
4) Pump Motor Assembly
To replace the pump motor assembly, remove the two screws holding the pump motor assembly in place. Remove the pump motor assembly from the tub.
5 Tub Cover
Remove the tub cover by lifting up on the tabs located along the edge of the tub cover. Slide the tub cover off the tub.
5) Drain Impeller
To drain the impeller, remove the drain plug see Figure 1.

How do you unblock a dishwasher that won’t drain?
If the dishwasher doesn’t drain properly, check the level of detergent in the tub. Detergent levels should be between 1/4 cup and 3/4 cup. If the level is low, add more detergent. If the level is high, remove some detergent from the tub. Make sure the door seals tightly. Check the filter for clogs. Clean the filter screen. If these steps fail to resolve the problem, call a professional service technician.
How do you unclog a dishwasher with standing water?
If you notice that your dishwasher has water in the bottom, it could mean that your washer isn’t draining properly. This could happen if the drain hose is clogged or not connected correctly. It could also mean that the drain pump is malfunctioning. In either case, check the drain line and ensure that it is clear and free from debris. If the problem persists, contact a professional plumber.
What do you do when your Whirlpool dishwasher won’t drain?

How do you force a dishwasher to drain?
Dishwashers are designed to wash dishes using hot water and detergent. However, if you fill the dishwasher with dirty dishes, the water level gets higher and higher until it reaches the top of the washing chamber. This results in the water overflowing from the dishwasher. To prevent this, you need to empty the dishwasher completely after every use.
If you have a whirlpool dishwasher, chances are good that you’ve experienced problems with it not draining properly. This problem occurs because the drain hose gets clogged with soap scum or other debris. To fix this problem, simply remove the bottom panel from the dishwasher and clean out any debris that’s blocking the drain tube. Then, reattach the bottom panel and run the dishwasher again.
If your dishwasher has a drain line, you can try pouring vinegar down the drain line until the water runs clear. This method works well if your sink is not clogged. However, if your sink is clogged, you can pour baking soda down the drain line. Baking soda will help break up any soap scum that is blocking the drain. If neither of these methods work, you can call a plumber.
