Whirlpool Dishwasher Not Draining

If your dishwasher isn’t draining properly, here’s how to fix it.
1. Check the Drain Line
Check the drain line to see if any debris is clogged in it. This could prevent the water from draining completely. If you notice any blockage, try using a plunger to clear it.

1) Clean the Valve

To clean the valve, turn off the power supply to the dishwasher, remove the access panel, and disconnect the hose. Remove the rubber gasket around the valve stem. Turn the valve handle clockwise until the water drains out. Replace the gasket and reconnect the hose.
2 Clean the Filter
Clean the filter screen. To do this, open the door of the dishwasher and remove the filter screen. Rinse the filter screen under running tap water. Be sure to rinse the screen thoroughly; otherwise, dirt and grime may remain stuck to the screen.

2) Pour in some warm water

Pour about 2 cups of warm water into the bottom of the washer tub. This will help loosen any dried-on food from the sides of the tub.
3 Add detergent
Add a small amount of liquid dishwashing detergent to the wash water. Do not use fabric softener sheets or dryer sheets. Fabric softeners leave residue behind and dryer sheets can damage the heating element.

3) Change the Drain hose and valve

If you notice a leak in the drain line, check the drain hose and valve. Make sure the rubber gasket around the drain pipe is properly seated against the drain hole in the bottom of the tub. Check the drain hose and valve for cracks or leaks. Replace if necessary.
4 Fill the tub with hot water
Fill the tub with hot water until the water level reaches the top of the tub. Hot water helps loosen stubborn stains.

4) Pump Motor Assembly

To replace the pump motor assembly, remove the two screws holding the pump motor assembly in place. Remove the pump motor assembly from the tub.

Remove the tub cover by lifting up on the tabs located along the edge of the tub cover. Slide the tub cover off the tub.

5) Drain Impeller

To drain the impeller, remove the drain plug see Figure 1.
